Jack's birthday rewind

For Jack's 2nd birthday, we decided to invite all his friends and parents to the Jungle for a party extravaganza. I was terrified that no one would come, but we ended up having 15 kids and 13 adults!
Happy Birthday Jack!

I promised Jack a Lightning McQueen Cake. It almost didn't happen, but thanks to Zack's construction and my frosting skills it all came together!

More ding dongs were eaten then made into tires...

After the kids sang happy birthday to Jack, he grabbed a fork and dug in!

The next night Zack and Jack had fun making and eating a "Sally" cake.

More eating then making cake, as blue tongues testify...

Are you serious with that cake?!?! It's amazing! So do you have a car-shaped cake mold? And the frosting is beautiful. How did you get such a vibrant red? Looks like a blast!

That is a very cool cake! Last year I made these cute little lemon-scented blueberry cupcakes for Mei Li's birthday and I love them, but you've inspired me to take it to the next level for her second birthday. I think we'll be celebrating it during beach week?

Thanks! I did a lot of research on what cake pan to buy for Lightning McQueen. I found one close to it and then we made modifications to it. (Zack mostly). Wilton.com sells something called no taste red food coloring that is very red and doesn't affect the color like using too much regular red food coloring can do.
